DENPASAR – A British national in Bali, identified as KSM, has been detained by the Immigration Office Class I TPI Denpasar for allegedly misusing his visa while operating a motorbike rental business in Nusa Penida, Bali.
KSM, who was residing in Indonesia on a Visit Stay Permit (ITK), was found renting out motorbikes to foreign tourists. He was apprehended on Saturday, January 25, by an immigration enforcement team at a hotel in Nusa Penida following reports from local residents.
“This action was taken in response to public complaints, which we immediately investigated,” said Ridha Sah Putra, Head of the Denpasar Immigration Office, on Tuesday, February 4.
According to authorities, KSM had been promoting his rental services through social media, managing to rent out three to four motorbikes per day at a rate of IDR 150,000 per unit. Further investigations revealed that KSM is married to an Indonesian citizen, identified by the initials C.
While KSM’s Visit Stay Permit remains valid until February 11, 2025, his involvement in commercial activities violates Indonesian immigration regulations. As a result, he has been taken to the Denpasar Immigration Office for further processing.
Under Article 75, Paragraph 1 of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration, KSM faces administrative immigration sanctions, including deportation and a re-entry ban.
