Bali’s Nuanu Creative City is a one-of-a-kind destination that can be found just a stone’s throw from one of the island’s most important cultural landmarks, Tanah Lot.
Nuanu Creative City in Tabanan Regency is a 44-hectare creative hub home to everything from a beach club to artists’ studios, event spaces, and even residential quarters.

Nuanu Creative City is a sustainable city that is being designed around art, culture, nature, and technology.
The vision for the 44-hectare property is ambitious, but there are hopes that over the next decade, the site can become an example of development that brings together the needs of people and planet in harmony.
Over the last week, Nuanu Creative City has received a visit from Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar, who has shared her praise of the project with the media.
Deputy Minister Umar explained, “We see Nuanu Creative City as more than just a physical area, but a tangible manifestation of the future of Indonesia’s creative economy.”
Nuanu Creative City is set to become a thriving creative economic area in Bali, built on the basis of the Tri Hita Karana philosophy, which advocates living in a way that creates harmony between humans, the Gods, and nature. Umar added, “We are here to provide full support for the development of an area that combines immersive experiences with a commitment to sustainable living.”
Deputy Minister Umar highlighted how the project prioritizes sustainable growth by only developing 30 percent of the land and leaving the remaining 70 percent as a green zone, and committing to creating a zero-emission principle through the use of electric vehicles and other sustainable practices.
She added, “I am proud to see the work of our nation’s children competing at the global level without abandoning their local identity. From multimedia to conservation at Magic Garden, everything is designed to improve the well-being of the community while protecting the earth.”
Deputy Minister Umar was particularly impressed with the Nuanu Kids Academy, which provides free arts education for local children and aims to strengthen Nuanu’s role in conserving cultural identity while feeding the competitiveness of the international creative industry.
Tourists visiting Bali can spend a full day exploring Nuanu Creative City and all night enjoying the jam-packed calendar of events and workshops or kick back at the beach club.
Aurora Media Park is not to be missed and hosts an immersive light and sound show every evening at 6.30 pm. There is so much to explore.

It is projects like Nuanu Creative City that are helping put Bali on the map as a province of the future. While Nuanu Creative City is a privately funded project, the Indonesian Government is also investing heavily in areas known as Special Economic Zones.
Many tourists will already be familiar with the Sanur Special Economic Zone, which is all the new development in the Sanur tourism resort area, including the opening of world-class medical facilities that have helped establish Sanur as a globally competitive medical tourism destination.

There are plans already in progress to create another Special Economic Zone in Kura Kura in Denpasar, on Serangan Island, which will complement the neighboring Sanur.
The Kura Kura Special Economic Zone is being established with a combination of government funding and private investment. The area is set to become a knowledge hub, with a focus on education, investment, and innovation.
As a trio, the Nuanu Creative City, Sanur Special Economic Zone, and Kura Kura Special Economic Zone establish Bali as a world-leading arts, culture, and environment, education and innovation, financial and medical hub. It covers all bases. Surely more areas will be established over the next decade too.

By 2050, Indonesia is set to become the 4th-largest economy in the world, alongside China, India, and the US. Since 2050 is now only 25 years away, Indonesia is keen to lay the groundwork for that major economic shift now, and while it will take a nationwide effort and a huge amount of public and private investment, Bali, as the country’s flagship destination, has an increasingly important role to play.
