Tourists going on vacation in Bali are always on the lookout for ways to stay active and nurture their creativity. From silver making to painting, from cloth weaving to perfume making, Bali’s Canggu is a little creative hub in its own right.
This month, the island’s hottest vacation resort has welcomed a new creative workshop ideal for beach lovers.

Canggu has just welcomed its first-ever Bikini Atelier to town. Mer.Made Bikini Atelier is Bali’s first bikini workshop experience, and here at The Bali Sun, we just know that this is going to be a trend that takes off in 2026.
Located in Pererenan, Mer.Made Bikini Atelier hosts workshops for up to six people at a time. Sitting around an intimate table, the founders have chosen to keep the space contained and intentional.
The name comes from the French word for ‘sea,’ Mer, and Made for creation; Mer.Made, half ocean, half woman. The founders have shared “More than an atelier, Mer.Made is about feeling good in your own skin, embracing who you are, and carrying a piece of that moment with you, long after Bali.”
The workshop is accessible and totally guided; even those who don’t consider themselves creative are set to be inspired. First, workshop attendees pick their base bikini, then add the details, including pearls, beads, accessories, or even hand-pressed prints. Stage three is the simplest part; wear and enjoy!
The Mer.Made Bikini Atelier offers two workshop sessions a day, the morning session starts at 10 am, and the afternoon session starts at 1.30 pm. Workshops cost IDR 1,950,000 per person.
Bali’s Canggu is secretly a little creative hub. We tend to think of Ubud as the arts and culture capital of Bali, but for those looking to get creative on vacation, Canggu more than delivers.
What better way to accessorize a handmade bikini than with handmade and bespoke jewelry?
Why not couple a trip to the new Mer.Made Bikini Atelier with a silver jewellery making workshop at Lumbung Jewellery Classes on Jalan Pantai Berawa?
During sessions, guests are guided through making their very own piece of silver jewellery, usually a ring, pendant, or bracelet.

Workshops are hosted in a fully A/C classroom equipped with all the kit budding jewellery designers need to complete their piece.
Guided by professional silversmiths, workshop attendees will have the baseline amount of silver included in their workshop rate, but can add more on for an additional fee if they want to make something more substantial in size.
Workshop attendees take their creation home on the day and are given more than enough time to finish their masterpiece.

Tourists going on holiday in Bali’s Canggu who really want to let their creative juice flow should look into a painting class or even a pottery and ceramics class. Bali is famous for its ceramics work, and there are studios located around the province, including in Canggu.
Top picks for pottery workshops in Canggu include Mrs Potter Ceramic Studio and Pottery Workshop, which, like Mer.Made Bikini Atelier, can be found in the neighborhood of Pererenan.

There are different pottery classes to choose from, each focusing on a specific technique and part of the art form. Spin & Throw is a beginner-friendly class that helps attendees get to grips with the basics of wheel throwing. The Air Dry Clay Class is a firm favourite with families and budding creatives of all ages.
As is the Paint on Ceramics, this paint-your-own-pottery style class is a great activity for all creative abilities and certainly adds a sense of calm and creativity to a vacation.
