Police in Bali have been increasing nightly patrols in top tourist resort areas to help mitigate potential crimes against tourists.

Bali has been named the best destination in the world in 2026, and with more than 7 million international tourists set to visit the island by the end of the year, safety is a top priority for leaders.

The South Kuta Police have confirmed that they conducted spot and search patrols at several vulnerable locations in South Kuta on Saturday, 14th February, through to the early hours of Sunday morning. The patrols focused on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai in Benoa Village due to the rise in illegal racing and street crime in the area.

Benoa is one of the most popular vacation destinations in South Bali, and is the destination of choice for many young families and older couples.

Benoa Port has also undergone a redevelopment and is now the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub, and will continue to evolve into a world-class cruise destination, which is why police units are focusing so heavily on this area.

The patrol was led by South Kuta Police Chief AKP Muhammad Bhayangkara Putra Sejati and involved 26 personnel. During the patrol, officers monitored traffic flow and movement to ensure there were no illegal racing activities.

Illegal street racing has typically involved local youth, though foreigners have been known to get involved, too. The police on duty also inspected two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, including roadworthiness, completeness of documents, and inspection of seats and trunks.
