A British man went on an erratic rampage in Tatiapi Kaja, Tampaksiring, Gianyar, Bali on Tuesday (May 20, 2025), prompting local Civil Service Police (Satpol PP) to take swift action. The man, identified as 42-year-old Rupert Kimber, was detained after alarming villa guests and local residents.
According to I Made Watha, Head of Gianyar Satpol PP, the incident began when village officials reported a foreign male behaving bizarrely in the area. Kimber had initially entered a villa, then emerged shirtless, biting a phone charger and speaking incoherently, causing concern among guests.
“His actions were disruptive, and the local community quickly reported it,” Watha stated.
Upon receiving the report, Satpol PP personnel immediately arrived at the scene and detained the man without resistance. He was then brought to the Gianyar Satpol PP office for further handling.
As no one came forward to take responsibility for the foreigner, officers transferred him to the Immigration Office in Denpasar. “We brought him to Immigration, but due to concerns about his mental health, he has since been taken to Prof Ngoerah Hospital in Denpasar for a psychiatric evaluation,” Watha added. He also noted that Kimber is originally from Ketewel, Sukawati.
As of now, there is no further information regarding Kimber’s legal status or mental health diagnosis. Authorities are awaiting medical assessments and further investigation by immigration officials.
