Australian Man Arrested at Bali Airport Over Berawa Sex Case

BADUNG, Bali — A 27-year-old Australian man allegedly involved in a viral sexual incident at a resident’s property in Berawa has been arrested at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, just before he was due to board a flight to Australia.

The man, identified by police only by the initials BA, was arrested at around noon on Tuesday, August 25, by a joint team from the Badung Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office.

Police said BA was staying temporarily in the Kerobokan area and was about to leave Bali when officers caught up with him at the airport.

“He has been arrested and is currently being questioned by investigators,” Badung Police Public Relations Sub-Section officer Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti said on Wednesday, August 26.

The arrest comes just days after CCTV footage showing BA and a woman believed to be a foreign national allegedly having sex at a resident’s property on Jalan Pantai Berawa, Tibubeneng, North Kuta, went viral on social media.

Arrested Before Boarding

According to investigators, the incident took place in Gang Family, Jalan Pantai Berawa.

Police said BA and the woman entered a resident’s property and briefly checked the surroundings before allegedly engaging in sexual activity.

The pair were eventually discovered by the homeowner, who was preparing to place offerings outside the house.

The homeowner reportedly froze in shock before telling the couple to leave. When they did not immediately respond, the witness contacted family members.

The incident was captured on CCTV and later circulated widely online, prompting police to investigate and identify the people involved.

With BA now in custody, investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police are also working to locate the woman who was with him.

“We will explain further later. Investigators are working to complete the case. Please give us some time,” Ayu Inastuti said.

BA remains under examination as police determine the next steps in the case.

The arrest marks a new development in a case that drew widespread attention after footage of the incident surfaced online, while the search for the woman involved is still ongoing.
