Czech Woman Deported From Bali After Allegedly Marketing Villa on Tourist Visa

KARANGASEM, Bali — A 46-year-old Czech woman was deported from Bali after immigration officers said she was marketing a villa in Karangasem while staying in Indonesia on a Visa on Arrival.

The woman, identified by the initials NKH, had entered Indonesia using a VoA intended for short visits such as tourism. According to the Buleleng Immigration Office, officers later found indications that she was promoting a villa in Abang District through her personal Facebook account.

Immigration officials also found a sale notice displayed at the property that listed NKH’s contact number. Authorities said the activity was not permitted under the conditions of her stay.

“Every foreign national is required to use a visa and stay permit in accordance with the purpose of their visit,” Buleleng Immigration Office head Anak Agung Gde Kusuma Putra said, adding that violations would be handled under existing immigration rules.

NKH was taken to the Singaraja Immigration Office for questioning before immigration authorities imposed an administrative sanction in the form of deportation.

She was deported through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on October 16 aboard Qatar Airways flight QR-963 from Denpasar to Doha, with Prague as her final destination.

Immigration has also proposed placing her on Indonesia’s entry-ban list for a period determined under immigration regulations.

Authorities said the action was based on Article 75 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 122 letter a of Indonesia’s 2011 Immigration Law.

The Buleleng Immigration Office said it would continue monitoring foreign nationals across its jurisdiction to ensure visitors comply with the activities permitted under their visas and stay permits.
