Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has been ranked amongst the world’s best airports. The province’s only international airport is Indonesia’s second busiest airport, with Soekarno-Hatta International in Jakarta receiving only marginally more flights every year.
Bali I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has been listed amongst the winners at the Skytrax World Airport Awards.
The annual award winners are decided based on votes from real air travelers from around the world. For the 2025 awards the surveys were conducted by passengers from over 100 nationalities, between August 2024 and February 2025.
The awards have been taking place since 1999 and are the largest annual airport customer satisfaction survey in the world. In total 575 airports are assessed each year, and with the awards and surveys offers for free to airports and their passengers, the rankings are based on genuine and impartial feedback.
In 2025, Singapore Changi International Airport was awarded the highest accolade of the travel world: the world’s best airport. After narrowly missing out to Doha Hamad International Airport in 2024, it’s been a big month of celebration for Singapore. In fact, in the top five best airports in the world in 2025, there has been only a shuffling of places from 2024.
Singapore and Doha are now in first and second place, respectively, after Doha came out on top in 2024. Tokyo Haneda International Airport was ranked third in 2025, followed by Soeul Incheon International Airport, both of which were in opposite places in 2024. Tokyo Narita International Airport is coming in fifth place for a second year running.
Completing the top ten is Hong Kong International, Paris CDG, Rome Fiumicino, Munich and Zurich. Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta International Airport came in a respectable 25th place, jumping three places from 2024. Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has been listed in 72nd place, an improvement of two spots versus 2024.
Following the announcement of the winner’s General Manager of Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab told reporters “The increase is proof that Bali Island is still in demand by tourists, both domestic and foreign as a superior destination. We make sure that the service at the airport is always excellent to support the growth of the tourism sector in Bali.”
He added “We express our great appreciation to all parties who have supported the smooth operation of the airport and realized the dream of Ngurah Rai Airport to become a world-class airport for Indonesia.”
But Bali’s placement in the top 100 rankings for the Skytrax World Airport Awards is not the only thing Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has to celebrate. The terminals also won big in the regional rankings. Bali Airport has been placed an impressive sixth place in the Best Regional Airports in Asia 2025 category.
In a social media post, Bali Airport wrote, “A heartfelt thank you to all our passengers for your unwavering support and trust. Together, we soar to new heights! Your journey inspires us every day!”
As the low seasons starts to come to a close and the high season begin, Bali Airport is preparing for a huge influx of international tourists.
Latest travel figures for the first quarter of the year show that Australian tourists remain the most frequent international arrivals into Bali Airport, followed by tourists from China and India. Between January 2025 and March 2025 Bali Airport served 5,208,342 passengers and recorded 32,669 aircraft movements.
Shahab told reporters “The increase is proof that Bali Island is still in demand by tourists, both domestic and foreign as a superior destination.”

Tourists traveling to Bali this high seasons are advised to make use of the eVisa on Arrival which enables visitors to apply for their 30-day visa online prior to touching down in Denpasar.
The added benefit of having an eVisa on Arrival is that holders are eligible to use the autogates upon arrival and departure, in turn reducing immigration checking time to just a few seconds. The eVisa on Arrival can be applied for on the official Indonesia Immigration website, and costs IDR 500,000.
