BADUNG, Bali — Police are investigating two foreign nationals who allegedly left a massage salon in Canggu without paying for their services, after a video of the incident circulated on social media.
The incident took place at a salon in Banjar Kayutulang, Canggu, North Kuta, Badung, in July 2026. Police visited the location after the video began circulating online.
Badung Police spokesperson Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti said officers were now working to identify the two foreign nationals and trace the motorcycle they allegedly used to leave the salon.
“The salon management clarified that the incident occurred in July 2026. Going forward, management will update its standard operating procedures regarding payments and other applicable rules to prevent similar incidents,” Ayu said in a statement on Thursday (Aug. 13).
Foreigners allegedly refused to pay
According to police, the two foreigners came to the salon and asked to receive treatment even though their membership service period had already ended.
The owner eventually agreed to provide the treatment to prevent the situation from escalating.
“The alleged offenders then received treatment that evening before the business closed. However, after completing the treatment, they refused to pay for the services they had received,” Ayu said.
Police said the two continued to refuse payment despite being warned by salon staff.
They then left the premises on a black Yamaha NMAX motorcycle.
Before they left, the salon owner reportedly recorded the incident and warned the two that the matter could be reported to immigration authorities and the police. The two nevertheless left the location.
Police seek their identities
Police said the identities of the two foreign nationals remain unknown.
Based on initial information, the first person was a foreign man described as having dark skin. He was reportedly wearing a white shirt and beige shorts at the time of the incident.
The second was a foreign woman described as having light skin. She was reportedly wearing a long-sleeved checkered shirt and brown trousers.
Police are now searching vehicle registration data linked to the motorcycle allegedly used by the pair.
“We are conducting searches for data on the vehicle used by the alleged offenders. We urge business owners to always remind customers of the rules that apply at their establishments,” Ayu said.
The salon has said it will review and update its payment procedures following the incident.
