A 24-year-old British man identified as YR was found dead inside a villa in Kerobokan Kelod, North Kuta, Badung, on Saturday night.
The man was found in Room 3 at around 9:30 p.m. on August 29 after villa staff became concerned when he had not been seen leaving his room since the early hours of Saturday.
According to Badung Police, YR was last seen by villa staff at around 3 a.m. that day. A security guard later sent him a message but received no response. After repeated knocks on the door also went unanswered, staff contacted local pecalang, who opened the room using a duplicate key.
YR was found lying on his back on the bed, wearing black clothing and socks. His body was already stiff when he was discovered.
Police said fluid mixed with blood was found coming from his mouth, while fluid was also observed from his genital area.
During an examination of the room, officers found 18 bottles of NOW Inositol supplements, two adjustable wrenches, two sets of L-shaped hex keys and a blender. The room was also in disarray, with belongings scattered across the floor.
The Badung Police Identification Unit and medical personnel from Kuta Utara Community Health Centre conducted an initial examination at the scene.
Police said the external examination found no apparent signs of physical violence on the victim’s body.
However, authorities said an autopsy would be needed to establish the exact cause of death.
The body was later removed from the villa by the Badung Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and taken by ambulance to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar for further examination.
Police have secured items found at the scene and sealed off the room as the investigation continues.
