Moto2 Rider Tony Arbolino Tries Selling Grilled Corn in Lombok

MANDALIKA, Indonesia — Moto2 rider Tony Arbolino took an unusual break from racing preparations in Lombok this week, swapping his race bike for a scooter carrying a grilled corn cart.

The 26-year-old Italian rider, who races for Reds Fantic Racing, shared a video of himself trying his hand at selling grilled corn at Kuta Mandalika Beach ahead of this weekend’s Indonesian Grand Prix.

In footage posted to his Instagram account, Arbolino is seen riding the scooter used by a local corn seller, complete with the vendor’s cart attached to the back.

He also tried grilling the corn himself.

Arbolino jokingly described himself in the post as the “fastest seller of Lombok.”

The light-hearted moment quickly attracted attention online, including from MotoGP rider Fabio Quartararo, who responded to the post with a laughing emoji.

Arbolino’s seaside outing came just days before he returns to competition at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit.

The Indonesian Grand Prix weekend runs from October 9 to 11, with Moto2 practice beginning on Friday, followed by qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday.

Arbolino has been competing in Moto2 since 2021 after moving up from Moto3.

The Italian finished runner-up in the Moto3 World Championship in 2020 and later took second place in the Moto2 championship in 2023.

His Lombok visit is one of several off-track appearances by riders ahead of the Mandalika race weekend, with competitors arriving early to take part in local activities and explore the island before racing begins.
