Classical music lovers are in for a memorable evening this August as internationally acclaimed violinist Iskandar Widjaja returns to Bali, joined by Chinese piano virtuoso Niu Niu for a special performance at Padma Musical Series.
The one-night concert will take place on Sunday, August 30, at the Plumeria Grand Ballroom, Padma Resort Legian, marking Widjaja’s return to the island following his well-received appearance at last year’s series. For Niu Niu, the concert will be his Bali debut.
Born in Berlin to Indonesian heritage, Widjaja has performed with some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Munich Philharmonic, Sydney Symphony and Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna. Known for blending classical performance with contemporary influences, he has built a global following both on stage and online.
Joining him is Niu Niu (Zhang Shengliang), a Juilliard-trained pianist who began his international career at a young age after becoming the youngest pianist signed by EMI Classics. Since then, he has performed at prestigious concert halls around the world, including Tokyo’s Suntory Hall and London’s Royal Festival Hall.
The evening’s programme will feature a mix of classical favourites and contemporary crossover pieces, including works by Beethoven, Chopin, Poulenc and Kreisler, alongside music by John Legend, Ryuichi Sakamoto and selections inspired by Studio Ghibli films.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. Food and beverages will be available before the performance and during the intermission.
