It will soon be easier than ever to arrange a visa extension appointment with the Indonesian Immigration in Bali.

Indonesia Immigration has been on a mission to create a gold standard service for both residents and foreigners, and teams will soon open Immigration Lounges in shopping malls. The trial Immigration Lounge was held as a pop-up at Discovery Mall Bali in Kuta on 6th-7th December, 2025.

Following the success of the event, Indonesia Immigration is set to open a permanent Immigration Lounge in a central shopping centre in 2026. It has not yet been decided which shopping mall will welcome the permanent Immigration Lounge, but the idea has received praise for its capacity to bring immigration services closer to tourists.

Speaking to reporters, Winarko, Head of the Ngurah Rai Class I Special Immigration Office, stated that the pop-up Immigration Lounge was the first step in opening up opportunities for collaboration in providing immigration services in public spaces.

He explained that Bali, as an international tourism hub, has a high level of mobility of Indonesian and foreign citizens, which means making fast and easy access to immigration services even more important.

The Immigration Lounge did not offer full-spectrum immigration services but direct access to the most used services, being Passport Renewal for Indonesian nationals and Stay Permit Extension services for tourists.

Winarko shared, “Eazy Passport and Eazy Stay Permit are proactive steps by Immigration to reach people with high mobility, while also providing faster, more efficient, and standardized services.”

Over just two days, Immigration Lounge staff served 384 people, with the capacity to serve 1,000 people over the duration.

Speaking seperately, Saroha Manullang, Head of the Travel Documents, Residence Permits, and Immigration Status Division at the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, explained how the event was a success and thanked Discovery Mall Bali for their cooperation.

“We appreciate the management of Discovery Mall Bali for their support and collaboration that made this service possible. We hope this activity will provide widespread benefits to the community.”

The announcement of easier and more accessible immigration services is welcome news for tourists traveling to Bali.

Currently, extending a tourism visa, or any other visa category, requires following the Hybrid Application System, by applying for a visa extension online and subsequently attending an in-person appointment at one of the Immigration Offices in Bali; typically, Denpasar or Ngurah Rai.

While a small inconvenience for those wishing to stay longer in Indonesia, Immigration leaders are aware that steps need to be taken to make services more streamlined and easier to access for foreigners.

In November, two new Immigration Offices were opened in Tabanan Regency and Klungkung Regency, offering a closer office for those staying in areas like Canggu, Kedungu, and Bedugul, as well as over in East Bali, closer to Candidasa and Semarapura.

The new immigration office in Tabanan can be found on Jalan Arjuna 2, Delod Peken, right behind the Tabanan District Head Office.

The Klungkung Immigration Office is located on Jalan Semarapura. Both of the new offices are ranked as a Class III Immigration Office, which means that the services are somewhat more limited than those of other bigger offices.

For most tourists traveling to Bali for a vacation or a travel trip of less than 30 days, a visa exemption is nothing to be concerned about. The most appropriate visa for most tourists and holidaymakers to Bali is the 30-day eVisa on Arrival.

This can be applied for online via the Official Indonesian eVisa website, up to 72 hours before travel; however, it’s highly advisable to arrange the visa as far in advance as possible. The eVisa on Arrival costs IDR 500,000 and also allows travelers to use the autogates at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport upon arrival and departure.
