Russian Woman Arrested for Running Illegal Beauty Salon in Bali

BADUNG – A Russian national identified as NK (48) has been arrested by Bali immigration authorities for illegally operating a beauty salon on the island. She was detained at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Sunday (9/2) while attempting to board a flight to Singapore.

Illegal Business Uncovered by Immigration Cyber Patrol

Head of Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Winarko, confirmed the arrest, stating that NK had violated Indonesian immigration laws by misusing her visa.

“Ngurah Rai Immigration Office has detained a Russian national, NK, for alleged immigration violations related to unauthorized business activities,” Winarko announced on Friday (14/2).

The case came to light through the Cyber Patrol Unit of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, which discovered NK promoting her beauty salon services on social media without proper licensing.

Authorities Track NK to Ngurah Rai Airport

Following the online discovery, authorities traced NK’s whereabouts and apprehended her at Ngurah Rai Airport. Upon her arrest, officials found various tools and equipment used in her illegal business operations.

According to immigration records, NK entered Indonesia via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang on February 7, 2025, using a visa on arrival (VoA).

Winarko emphasized that a VoA is strictly for social visits, business meetings, and tourism, and does not permit any form of employment or business activities.

“We want to make it clear that a visa on arrival cannot be used for work-related activities. It is strictly for social visits, business discussions, and tourism, in accordance with immigration regulations,” he stated.

Currently, NK is being held at the Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) while further legal proceedings are underway.
