BADUNG, Bali — Police are searching for a foreign national who allegedly smashed a glass sign outside a pub in Pecatu, South Bali, before fleeing on a motorcycle.
The incident happened outside Gabet’s Pub Restaurant & Karaoke on Jalan Labuansait, Pecatu, Kuta Selatan, at around 1.25pm on Tuesday (September 8).
Kuta Selatan Police began investigating after the incident was reported and footage of the incident circulated on social media.
According to police, CCTV footage showed the foreigner throwing a glass into the grounds of Youtopia Bali Smoothie at around 1.20pm.
A few minutes later, the man walked towards the pavement outside Gabet’s Pub and allegedly caused a disturbance while shouting and using abusive language.
He then picked up a stone and threw it at the pub’s glass advertising sign.
The glass shattered after the second throw, police said.
The suspect was seen leaving the area on a black Yamaha XMAX motorcycle.
Police said the incident frightened several people in the area.
A witness told police that the man had earlier visited a shop near the pub to order a smoothie. He reportedly sat for around three minutes while making a phone call before suddenly throwing the drink.
He then crossed the road towards Gabet’s Pub and threw the stone at the glass sign before speeding away.
Police have secured the damaged glass sign as evidence, while the extent of the financial loss is still being assessed by the pub’s management.
Kuta Selatan Police are continuing to question witnesses and work to identify the foreign suspect and determine his whereabouts.
