There are a few destinations in Bali that have been slowly appearing on more ‘must-travel’ trending lists for the last few years. Munduk is one of them.
It’s not hard to see why this stunning north Bali jungle escape is home to some of the most stunning views the island has to offer.

Fast forward to now, and Munduk is still something of an untapped gem. But there is an emerging travel market here, which makes it easier for tourists to come and enjoy all the natural wonders the area has to offer. Due to its high elevation, Munduk is home to dozens of waterfalls.
Sekumpul Waterfall is considered by many to be the most beautiful waterfall in Bali. This magnificent multi-tiered cascade is the stuff of travel dreams, and what makes it even more special for tourists is that there are rarely crowds here.
Popular waterfalls in Bali, like Kanto Lampo Waterfall, can welcome thousands of tourists every day, and this can make it feel a little crowded at peak times. At Sekumpul Waterfall, there are times of day when tourists could very easily have the whole cascade to themselves.
For a seriously magical jungle hike in Munduk, there is one very special route to follow. The aptly named Waterfall Waterfalls Trek features not one but three impressive waterfalls, each with its own unique characteristics. Tourists on a guided Munduk hike will visit Red Coral Waterfall, Golden Valley Waterfall, and Melating Waterfall.
For those who simply can’t get enough of the magical waterfalls of Munduk, Banymala Twin Waterfalls must also be added to the list.
Munduk is not only a day trip destination for jungle lovers, but it also makes for the perfect place to spend a whole vacation.
Not only is this a super relaxed destination, ideal for rest and recuperation, but it also provides the ideal launchpad for explorations across central and northern Bali.
Munduk itself is filled with natural wonders, and for those who want to deepen their understanding of Balinese culture, taking a short trip south to Bedugul, also known as the central highlands of Bali, is a great addition to a Munduk vacation.
Bedugul is home to unmissable cultural landmarks like Ulun Danu Beratan, and beautiful outdoor attractions like The Blooms Garden and The Botanical Garden of Bali. Handara Gate is a great spot for those all-important Instagram photos, too.
