Indonesia Renames 32 Immigration Offices — Bali Is on the List

DENPASAR, Bali — Indonesia has officially renamed 32 immigration offices across the country as part of a broader institutional restructuring, with Bali among the regions affected by the changes.

The new nomenclature took effect on October 5, 2026, following a decree issued by the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections. The restructuring also includes changes to the classification, or typology, of 14 immigration offices nationwide.

In Bali, the Singaraja Immigration Office has been renamed the Buleleng Immigration Office.

The change means the office previously known as Kantor Imigrasi Kelas II TPI Singaraja is now officially called Kantor Imigrasi Kelas II TPI Buleleng.

Several immigration offices in neighbouring Nusa Tenggara have also been renamed.

The Sumbawa Besar Immigration Office is now Sumbawa Immigration Office, Maumere has become Sikka, Atambua has become Belu, and Labuan Bajo has been renamed Manggarai Barat.

The Directorate General of Immigration said the changes were designed to make office names more consistent with their service areas and operational responsibilities.

Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko said the revised naming system was expected to improve coordination and make immigration functions more effective.

The restructuring was approved by the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform in June and later formalised through Minister of Immigration and Corrections Decree No. M.IP-30.OT.01.03 of 2026.

The decree also adjusts the typology and, in some cases, the jurisdiction of immigration offices based on factors including workload, regional conditions and the nature of immigration services and supervision carried out by each office.

One example is Yogyakarta Immigration Office, which changed from a Class I Immigration Checkpoint office to a Class I Non-Immigration Checkpoint office after responsibility for Yogyakarta International Airport was placed under the Kulon Progo Immigration Office.

For the public, the most immediate impact is the change in office names used in immigration systems.

Immigration authorities have advised people applying for passports to check the latest office names when using the M-Paspor application or searching for immigration offices online, as official systems are being updated to reflect the new nomenclature.

The government said the wider restructuring is intended to clarify each office’s area of responsibility while improving immigration services and supervision across Indonesia.
