DENPASAR, Bali — A British national identified as TD (49) has been arrested by immigration authorities in Denpasar following a viral video showing him allegedly intimidating local residents in the Renon area.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, prompted public concern and led to a report being filed with authorities.
Head of Denpasar Immigration Office, R Haryo Sakti, said the arrest was carried out after officers tracked the suspect to his residence on Jalan Tukad Unda, Panjer, Denpasar.
“We appreciate the public’s active role in reporting suspicious activities by foreign nationals,” Sakti said on Friday (April 17).
During the operation, officers found that TD’s Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) had expired, indicating he had overstayed in Indonesia due to failure to renew his visa.
Authorities also noted that TD was uncooperative and resisted officers during questioning at the time of arrest.
He has since been taken to the Denpasar Immigration Office for further investigation. Officials are currently examining his motive for the alleged intimidation and tracing his activities during his stay in Indonesia.
In a separate operation under the “Dharma Dewata” patrol, immigration officers also detained four Nigerian nationals over suspected misuse of their stay permits.
The individuals — identified as UMA, KUO, JIE, and UGO — entered Indonesia through various airports between 2018 and 2026 using investor and visitor stay permits.
All four are currently undergoing further questioning as authorities assess potential immigration violations.
Immigration officials have not yet disclosed possible charges or whether deportation measures will be taken.
