Injured Aussie Found in Abandoned Bali Building

BADUNG, Bali – An Australian national was found living in an abandoned building in the Sunset Road area of Legian, Kuta, with a leg injury that left him unable to walk.

The middle-aged man was located in mid-April 2026 after the Australian Consulate contacted local authorities to help trace his whereabouts.

According to Badung Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) officer I Wayan Suantara, the man was in a concerning condition when found, with a leg wound suspected to be infected.

“He couldn’t walk due to the condition of his leg. There was a wound that likely had developed an infection,” Suantara said.

Officers initially attempted to take him to hospital, but he refused.

Authorities believe the refusal may have been driven by trauma and distrust. The man reportedly claimed that a local acquaintance had taken his motorcycle and never returned it.

Following further coordination with the Australian Consulate, the man eventually agreed to receive medical treatment.

He was later transported to Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar, where he is currently receiving care. The case remains under the handling of the Australian Consulate.
