PECATU, Bali — The body of an unidentified woman believed to be a foreign national was found along the shoreline of Nyang Nyang Beach in Pecatu on Saturday afternoon.

A fisherman discovered the body at around 4:50 p.m. and reported it to local authorities and the Pecatu village leader. Bali Search and Rescue officials received the report at around 5:20 p.m. and dispatched five personnel to assist with the evacuation.

However, authorities have not confirmed her identity or nationality.

The evacuation took around two hours due to conditions at the location. The body was eventually removed from the beach at around 7:30 p.m. and transported by ambulance to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar.

The operation involved Bali Search and Rescue, South Kuta Police, water police, Bali Police forensic officers, Badung lifeguards, Pecatu village officials and local residents.

Authorities have not determined when the woman died or what caused her death.

No information has been released indicating whether the death involved an accident, medical condition or criminal activity.

The case has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation as efforts continue to establish the woman’s identity.
