BULELENG, Bali – A 36-year-old British national identified by the initials AM was arrested by police at Gilimanuk Ferry Port in western Bali after allegedly attacking a resort front office employee with a sharp weapon before attempting to flee the island.
The violent incident reportedly took place Tuesday night (May 5, 2026) at a resort in Pejarakan Village, Gerokgak District, Buleleng Regency.
According to information gathered by authorities, the attack was captured on CCTV footage from the resort’s parking area. The suspect was seen arriving at approximately 8:03 p.m. local time in a white Suzuki Fronx with Bali license plate DK 1461 FCG.
Shortly after exiting the vehicle, AM was seen returning alongside a male front office staff member. The two appeared to engage in a conversation before the situation escalated.
Police said the suspect allegedly pulled a bladed weapon from his pocket and slashed the employee. The victim immediately ran from the scene in an attempt to save himself.
Following the attack, the suspect returned to his vehicle and allegedly attempted to escape. A security guard tried to stop the car by blocking its path, but the effort was unsuccessful.
The case was quickly reported to Buleleng Police, who coordinated with officers at Gilimanuk Ferry Port to intercept the suspect before he could cross out of Bali.
Security at the port was tightened under the direction of Gilimanuk Port Police Chief AKBP Arya Agung Arjana Putra.
At around 11:37 p.m., officers located and arrested AM while he was still inside the vehicle, parked in front of a row of shop houses in Gilimanuk.
Police also seized several items as evidence, including two knives, a mobile phone, a passport, a driver’s license, and the white Suzuki Fronx allegedly used during the incident.
The suspect was later transferred to Buleleng Police headquarters at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday (May 6, 2026) for further investigation.
Buleleng Police spokesperson Iptu Yohana Rosalin Diaz confirmed the arrest.
“Yes, that is correct. The suspect has been secured and is currently being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Buleleng Police. A full official statement will be released later,” she said.
