BADUNG, Bali — A brief smoke incident at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport prompted an emergency response on Thursday night, with authorities confirming there were no injuries and airport operations were not affected.
The smoke was reported at around 9:57 p.m. from a commercial outlet on the second floor of the International Terminal, according to the airport’s Head of Communication and Legal Division, Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi.
Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) crews, assisted by other airport personnel, responded immediately and guided passengers away from the affected area.
“The incident did not result in any injuries, and airport operations and passenger services continued as normal,” Sandi said.
The situation was brought under control by 10:13 p.m., after which the airport carried out service recovery measures in the affected area.
The cause of the smoke has not yet been confirmed and remains under investigation.
Airport management apologised for the inconvenience and urged passengers to remain calm and follow instructions from airport staff.
Videos shared on social media showed smoke inside part of the terminal, but officials said the incident was contained quickly and did not disrupt flights or airport services.
