BADUNG, Bali — Two foreign women were caught on camera exchanging punches after an argument reportedly broke out while they were queuing to buy grilled corn in Canggu, one of Bali’s busiest tourist areas.
The incident, which quickly went viral on social media, took place near Sand Bar in North Kuta. A short video shows the women arguing in front of a roadside grilled corn vendor before the confrontation turned physical.
They were seen pulling each other’s hair, grabbing each other’s clothing and throwing punches as a crowd of locals and tourists gathered around. A man eventually stepped in to separate the pair and prevent the situation from escalating further.
North Kuta Police chief Comr. I Ketut Sukadana confirmed that officers responded to the scene on Saturday after the incident was reported.
“Our patrol officers attended the location,” Sukadana said.
Based on preliminary information gathered by police, the dispute was believed to have started while the two women were waiting in line to buy grilled corn from the roadside stall.
By the time officers arrived, the situation had already calmed down and no further disturbance was reported.
Police have not released the identities or nationalities of the women involved, and it remains unclear whether either of them will face legal action.
Sukadana also reminded both residents and international visitors to respect local laws and social norms while staying in Bali.
“We urge the public and foreign tourists to maintain public order and comply with the rules and norms that apply during their stay in Bali,” he said.
