In 2026, it is more important than ever that the travel and tourism sector takes sustainability seriously. In Bali, this has been a top priority for decades, which is why the island is home to an incredible selection of eco-stays, innovative bamboo buildings, and regenerative tourism initiatives.
Here at The Bali Sun, we think these eco-stays ooze charm and are amongst our favourite places to stay in the province.
Bamboo buildings, treehouses, and eco stays can be found in all of Bali’s top nature tourism destinations. On par with glamping getaways, eco stays offer not only a deeper connection to Balinese culture and the landscape but are generally very affordable too.
We’ll start with one of Bali’s most famous eco-stays, and that is Hideout in Karangasem Regency. This incredible eco-stay has earned international acclaim and rightly so.
Home to some of the most impressive bamboo architecture in Bali, Hideout is truly a bucket list stay. At Hideout, it is not only the bamboo hideaway that makes for a memorable stay, but the activities too.

Guests have the option to book a private yoga lesson, visit a local Balinese healer, take part in a guided trek through the village and the surrounding countryside, or take part in a traditional Bali silversmithing workshop.
Heading over to the Tabanan Hills, and no exploration of Bali’s cutest eco-stays would be complete without a mention of Sarinbuana Eco Lodge. Hidden away in Desa Wangiri, Sarinbuana Eco Lodge is home to its very own permaculture garden, natural pools, sauna, and direct access to secret waterfalls. Guests are able to head out with guides to go birdwatching, explore the local farming system, and explore the jungles.
Sarinbuana Eco Lodge offers guests the chance to stay in a treehouse or a jungle bungalow. Each bungalow has its own unique style, featuring traditional Balinese woodwork, jungle views, and fresh mountain air. Sarinbuana Eco Lodge has bungalows ideal for 1-2 people, and homes that can accommodate up to five people comfortably.
For those looking for an eco-stay close to central Ubud, look no further than Firefly Eco-Lodge Bali. This spot has even been featured on Netflix!
The towering bamboo treehouses of Firefly Eco-Lodge are seriously impressive and offer guests the chance to truly sleep in nature.
Surrounded by pristine rice paddies, which, yes, are home to real fireflies, this is another Bali bucket list stay that is not to be missed.
Since Firefly Eco-Lodge was featured on Netflix, demand for this stay has soared, so be sure to book as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment.
Bali’s cutest eco-stays all offer a certain sense of luxury. But if you’re a traveler seeking a truly sustainable adventure in Bali, the Astungkara Way is the place for you.
Offering both overnight stays on their regenerative farm in Tabanan Regency and multi-day treks through the most beautiful parts of the island, Astungkara Way is spearheading regenerative tourism in Bali and receiving nothing but rave reviews because of it.
During an overnight experience with Astungkara Way, guests sleep in a communal setting on an open wooden platform.
The platforms were donated to the project by Bali’s most eco-friendly beach club, Desa Potato Head in Seminyak. With all food and experiences included in the package rate, guests can look forward to local home-cooked meals, as well as getting involved with harvesting and foraging.
Activities include farm visits, trekking through untouched areas of Bali’s natural landscape, and cultural immersions such as learning to play the traditional Balinese gamelan.
