Police: Australian Tourist Found Dead at Sanur Villa

DENPASAR, Bali – An 80-year-old Australian tourist was found dead inside a villa in Sanur, Denpasar, on Thursday, with police suspecting he died of natural causes linked to illness and old age.

The victim, identified by his initials PA, was discovered unresponsive by his wife, SNS, 68, after she returned to the villa from a morning walk.

South Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit chief Iptu Azel Arisandi said preliminary findings indicated there were no signs of foul play.

“The victim is suspected to have died due to illness and factors related to old age,” Azel said in a written statement on Friday.

According to police, SNS left the villa at around 9:30 a.m. local time, leaving her husband alone. She returned at approximately 11:30 a.m. and noticed the villa was unusually quiet.

After calling out to her husband several times without receiving a response, she searched the property and found him lying on the floor near the bathroom.

Police said PA was lying on his back wearing only underwear. His right arm was folded across his chest, while his left arm rested straight beside his body.

A friend of SNS later arrived at the villa at around 1 p.m. to assist before the incident was reported to police.

Investigators who examined the scene found no signs of violence or injuries on the victim’s body.

Police also found several medications belonging to PA, including Melobic 7.5, Pregabalin, Comfarol Forte, Telmisartan Sandoz, Antenex Diazepam, and Alodom Nitrazepam.

The body was evacuated by personnel from the Denpasar Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and transported to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital for further examination.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing, although preliminary findings indicate the death was not the result of a criminal act.
