Book lovers unite! Bali is celebrating the opening of the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale at Discovery Mall Bali in Kuta. This annual mega book sale is the perfect place to find your Bali vacation read or even stock up on some great value bestsellers before you head home.

The Big Bad Wolf Book Fair will be hosted until 7th June 2026 and has an incredible selection of books on offer. With books on sale in English, this is the destination of choice for bookworms in Bali over the next two weeks. The event has locals and tourists from around the island traveling over to Discovery Mall in the heart of Kuta to stock up on reads.
Speaking to reporters, Big Bad Wolf Books Indonesia Country Director Marthius Wandi Budianto admitted to being surprised by the high level of interest from Balinese people in the English-language book exhibition. “Honestly, it exceeded our expectations. I arrived at 8 a.m., and people were already queuing, even though our team hadn’t even arrived at the venue yet. I’m very happy to see the enthusiasm of the Balinese people.”
Budianto explained that the 2026 Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is much larger than last year’s event. The exhibition area spans approximately 3,200 square meters, twice the size of the previous event in Bali.
In addition to the longer duration of the event, the number of book collections and promotions on offer has also been increased.
It’s almost impossible to believe that there are brand new, high-quality books on sale for as little as IDR 5,000. Budianto explained that the aim of the event is to provide affordable and accessible books and educational materials to people in Indonesia.
He shared, “We are very committed to making books accessible to all levels of society. While in other retailers English books can cost IDR 400,000 to IDR 500,000, here they are only IDR 80,000 to IDR 100,000.”
When asked why demand for English language books, both fiction and non-fiction, was in such high demand from Balinese and Indonesian residents, Budianto explained that since so many local residents work in the tourism sector, foreign language skills are essential, and books are an accessible way to learn and improve language.
The founder of Big Bad Wolf Books, Andrew Yap said Indonesia became Big Bad Wolf’s first international expansion destination outside of Malaysia due to strong market demand “We see that Indonesia has enormous demand. After 10 years, we have a better understanding of the market here and continue to invest.”
He added “Bali is very unique. Many tourists come from Russia, Eastern Europe, and various other countries. They are also surprised by the quality of the books and their prices.”
This event is really aimed at improving affordable access to books, and has even bought in cross-industry partnerships to make books even more affordable.
The Head of Merchant Business Functional Office Bali PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, Eka Putu Ananta, confirmed to reporters that BCA also supported the event through transaction promotions, meaning users of all BCA banks and credit/debit cards received discounts of up to 15 percent on the opening day.
Ananta shared, “We support increasing reading literacy. Books are not for consumption. Reading remains an important part of improving one’s quality of life.”

Tourists traveling in Bali will find the Big Bad Wolf Book Fair on the 1st Floor of Discovery Mall Bali in Kuta. There is a wide selection of book categories to choose from, including international bestsellers, non-fiction categories including business and history, and a wide selection of fiction books, including titles from 2025 and 2026.
