Australian Woman Causes Disturbance at Legian Hotel

LEGIAN, Bali – An Australian woman was referred for medical assessment after causing a disturbance at a hotel in Bali’s Legian area early Wednesday, prompting a joint response from police and public order officers.

The 55-year-old woman, identified by her initials ALB, was reported shouting and pacing around the lobby of Casa Dasa Legian Hotel on Jalan Nakula, disturbing other guests staying at the property.

Police responded after receiving a report through Indonesia’s emergency Call Center 110 at around 4:35 a.m., according to Denpasar Police spokesperson Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya. Officers from Kuta Police, assisted by local public order officers (Satpol PP), were dispatched to the scene.

Hotel staff told responding officers that the Australian woman had been repeatedly walking around the lobby while shouting incoherently, causing concern among guests and employees.

Authorities said the situation was brought under control after officers arrived, and no injuries were reported.

According to I Wayan Suantara, commander of the Kuta public order task force (Satpol PP BKO Kuta), the woman was later referred to Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital for further medical assessment after officers observed behaviour they believed required evaluation.

“Following our standard operating procedures, we referred her to Prof. Ngoerah Hospital for examination by mental health specialists,” Suantara said.

He added that the hospital would coordinate with immigration authorities if further administrative action was required following the medical assessment.

As of Thursday, the Australian woman remained under medical observation while authorities awaited the results of the evaluation.
